About the Artist

I’m Stephen, the accidental artist who discovered a love for surface pattern design in my 50s. I’ve always been creative and inventive, but got caught up in the corporate life and just assumed that it’s what I’d do until retirement. Then I was laid off from my job in August of 2023, just 10 months from being eligible for a pension, but like many hurdles, this gave me the incentive I needed because I had an idea for another product and knew that it would be an advantage if I could also have the time to create the designs for it. There was a high hurdle for me to jump. I’m colorblind. Really colorblind! As a child I nearly flunked out of math because it was undiagnosed and the teacher was assigning colors to numbers. However, when my mom was folding laundry, she noticed that I could recognize shades better than she could not being colorblind, so with that edge, she often employed me to sort the socks for our family of 6. It not only affects how I see color, but depth and patterns as well. I love to work with shapes and colors and I know that what I’m seeing isn’t the same as everyone else, but I hope that brings a uniqueness to my work and that you’ll find something that resonates in my collections. Since I began, I have placed my “all original” designs on multiple products. If you have a product that you feel needs a fresh look or even if you have an idea, contact me, I would love to help you bring your product or its packaging to life.

I look forward to hearing from you!
